K3 DADS IN THE MIX: FEDERAL APPROACHES TO FACILITATING FATHERS' ENGAGEMENT WITH THEIR FAMILIES

 

Gardner Wiseheart, Founder and Director of “Dads Make A Difference”, the fathering component of Healthy Families San Angelo, brings over 25 years experience in the field of human services – designing and implementing programs, supervising staff and providing direct service. He is co-author of Maps for Dads, a father-child interaction curriculum, currently used in numerous family support programs in the United States and Canada. As managing partner and senior trainer with the Southwest Partnership for Fathers and Families, he has provided training, consultation, and technical assistance on father involvement program design and working with couples to family support and early childhood programs across the U.S. and Canada. He has served as a consultant and trainer for Great Kids, Inc., Mathematica Policy Research, and Public Strategies. He is vice-president of the Board of Directors of the national Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families and serves on numerous national and state Father Advisory Boards. Gardner is married, the father of two daughters and a son, and grandfather of one.
