F2 b) CULTURALLY MODIFIED-TRAUMA FOCUSED TREATMENT FOR HISPANIC CHILDREN: PRELIMINARY FINDINGS

 

Dr. Susana Rivera is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and is the Program Director for the Border Traumatic Stress Response Center at Serving Children and Adolescents in Need, Inc. in Laredo, Texas.  Since 2001, Dr. Rivera has worked as a clinician providing treatment for child sexual abuse survivors.  In addition to child sexual abuse, her research interests include the role of culture in treatment and how cultural factors affect the accessing of mental health treatment for Hispanic children.   

Most recently, Dr. Rivera has served as co-chair of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Child Sexual Abuse Committee.  She also participated in the development of the Promise Video on Trauma-Focused Therapy for Child Sexual Abuse, an educational video on child sexual abuse and its treatment with the developers of the Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model.
