B11 THE GREENBOOK INITIATIVE: ADDRESSING THE CO-OCCURRENCE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND CHILD MALTREATMENT

 

Amber Ptak is the Project Director of the El Paso County, Colorado ‘Greenbook Grant,’ a $350,000 per year, five year grant that was awarded to six demonstration sites to develop integrated approaches to address the co-occurrence of domestic violence and child maltreatment. In her role as Project Director, Amber facilitates a multi-disciplinary collaboration that includes representatives from law enforcement, courts, domestic violence advocacy, child protective services, prosecutors, child advocacy, and mental health. Prior to her work on the Greenbook Grant, Amber was the El Paso County Department of Health Environment’s Violence Prevention Coordinator. Her duties included training/education for schools, corporations and the medical community on family violence issues; coordination of a family violence mass media campaign; and development of a workplace violence prevention curriculum for businesses in Colorado Springs. Amber also has worked in the areas of youth violence prevention, HIV/AIDS and sexual health prevention in Michigan.
