D5 ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS INVOLVING ADOLESCENT CHOICES
Robby Morris joined the faculty of The University of California at Los Angeles, U.C.L.A. and the medical staff of the Los Angeles County Juvenile Court Health services in 1986. Dr. Morris is board certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. He is currently Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at U.C.L.A. Beginning in November 1998, Dr. Morris assumed the position of Chief of Pediatrics at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital a newly allied institution with UCLA.
In 2001 U.C.L.A. and Orthopaedic Hospital agreed to a two year sabbatical during which Dr. Morris is the statewide medical director for the new Louisiana State University Juvenile Corrections Program. Beginning in March of 2005 Dr. Morris became the Medical director of the California Youth Authority as part of his duties in the Department of Pediatrics at UCLA. His principal aims are to have the Medical Department comply with the Consent Decree agreed to by California in November 2004 and involve university teaching programs in the operations of the Youth Authority. On July 1 2005 CYA became part of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and was renamed Division of Juvenile Justice.
He’s also consulted with the District of Columbia Juvenile Correctional Program, San Jose Juvenile Hall [Santa Clara County] and California Youth Authority. Dr Morris has received several awards including the first Francis M. Wheat Community Service award in 1990 given by the Los Angeles Alliance for Children’s Rights and has been selected for America’s best doctors for several yeas. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and The Society for Adolescent Medicine.
