L12 “MEGA” THE NEW RISK ASSESSMENT TOOL FOR SEXUALLY ABUSIVE YOUTH: VALIDATION STUDY UPDATE

Dr. L. C. Miccio-Fonseca has published in the area of sex offenders and victims of sexual abuse. Her clinical background is extensive including writing, consulting, clinical research, forensic psychologist, clinical supervision and expert witness in cases of sexual abuse with individuals of all ages and both genders. Dr. Miccio-Fonseca is highly specialized in the area of sex disorders, the paraphilias maintaining a practice in her field of specialization in Southern California. Her ongoing research on sex offenders has led to the development of unique tools for assessing sexually abusive individuals.

Her 7-year research project was selected for presentation by the International Congress on the Treatment of Sex Offenders (Minneapolis Minnesota, 1993, Caracas, Venezuela 1998, Toronto Canada, May 2000).  More recently Dr. Miccio-Fonseca created a new unique innovative risk assessment tool, MEGA^♪ that was presented at Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) September 2006 in Chicago.  

Dr. Miccio-Fonseca was appointed by the presiding judge in Juvenile Court to be one of the founding members and eventually Chair of the San Diego Task Force on Juvenile Offenders.  Dr. L.C. Miccio-Fonseca is currently Chair of the California Coalition on Sexual Offending, was past Vice Chair, and Editor to Perspectives Newsletter, a publication by California Coalition on Sexual Offending.
