E3 SUPPORTING NEW PARENTS: WHAT THEY ASK FOR, WHAT WE OFFER AND WHAT THEY GET

 

Sandra Lyons is a Senior Analyst at Partners for Our Children, University of Washington School of Social Work.  Her work focuses on social and health programs and policies promoting child and family well-being.  Prior to joining Partners for Our Children, Dr. Lyons was co-investigator of the longitudinal study of service use in Palm Beach County and recently completed studies of the efficacy of partnerships organized to provide social and health services to children and families, and of an effort to assess and remediate developmental delays among children enrolled in subsidized center and family day care. Past research includes assessments of family preservation and reunification programs, child welfare practice and fiscal reforms, and policies affecting program take-up. Before joining Chapin Hall, Dr. Lyons directed a study of prenatal care use among African-American women for the Institute for Health and Policy Research at the University of Illinois. She was also a Fellow at the University of Chicago/Northwestern University's Joint Center for Poverty Research where she studied the child care arrangements of employed welfare recipients and other low-income working women. She holds a Ph.D. in social work and welfare policy from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago.
