N12 MOVING BEYOND THE BASICS: ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR INTERVIEWS IN SPANISH
Ale Levi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. She received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Ms. Levi is the Forensic Interviewing Manager for the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center. Her responsibilities include managing the forensic interviewing team as well as conducting victim sensitive interviews and forensic extended evaluations of child victims of sexual abuse and physical abuse; witnesses to crimes and other criminal and child protection investigations in both English and Spanish. As of May 2007, she has conducted over 2000 interviews. Ms. Levi also coordinates the Spanish language interpretation program ensuring that Spanish speaking families receive equal access to services.
In the fall of 2006, Ms. Levi became an adjunct professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where she taught a class in clinical and diagnostic interviewing. Before working for the CCAC, Ms. Levi was as a bilingual psychotherapist and provided individual, family and group therapy sessions, in both English and Spanish, to victims, families and offenders of child abuse. Prior to that, Ms. Levi was the Bilingual Protective Service Team and general medicine social worker, and the Spanish speaking social worker for Children’s Memorial Hospital.
