Thur Plenary THE BIOLOGY OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT: IMPLICATIONS FOR CHILD PROTECTION

 

 

Dr. Richard D. Krugman, dean of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, was appointed chair-elect of the Association of American Medical Colleges. In his new role, Krugman sits on the AAMC's 10-member executive committee, which serves on behalf of the association's executive council and acts on matters that require immediate action. Previously, Dr. Krugman served as chair of the AAMC's Council of Deans.

 

He became dean of the CU School of Medicine on March 1, 1992, after serving as acting dean for 20 months. CU School of Medicine faculty work to advance science and improve care as the physicians, educators and scientists at University of Colorado Hospital, The Children's Hospital, Denver Health Medical Center, National Jewish Medical and Research Center and the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

 

A graduate of Princeton University, Krugman earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. He is a board-certified pediatrician who completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at the CU School of Medicine. A professor of pediatrics, Krugman served from 1981 to 1992 as director of the C. Henry Kempe National Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect.
