David Kolko, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Pediatrics, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  At Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, he directs the Special Services Unit, a treatment research program for youth referred by the Juvenile Court. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Kolko’s federal and state grant funding has been directed towards the study and treatment of disruptive behavior disorders, childhood firesetting, juvenile sexual offending, child physical abuse, and adolescent depression. 

 

Much of his current work is devoted to practitioner training in and the dissemination of effective interventions to community settings and systems serving children, youth, and families, including pediatric primary care, juvenile justice, child welfare, and mental health. He also directs the Partnerships for Families project, an NIMH-funded study that involves dissemination and implementation of AF-CBT with families involved in excessive physical discipline or child physical abuse. His recent books are entitled, Assessing and treating physically abused children and their families: A cognitive-behavioral approach (2002, Sage Publications, Thousand Oaks, CA), and the Handbook on Firesetting in Children and Youth (2002, Academic Press).
