Dr. M. Alexis Kennedy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the Department of Criminal Justice. Before completing her Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology at the University of British Columbia, she was a practicing attorney.  Sexual exploitation is her primary area of research, exploring such issues as child abuse and commercial sexual activity. She won two American Psychological Association dissertation awards for her work on cross-cultural perceptions of child abuse. She has published both on the consumers of prostitution and pathways into prostitution. She is currently the facilitator of the Southern Nevada Sex Offender Management Task Force. She is also the research chair for ATLAS, the Southern Nevada Anti Human Trafficking Task Force.
