Preconference B1 ADDRESSING CHILD TRAUMA IN CHILD WELFARE: LINKING PRACTICE AND RESEARCH
Barrett Johnson, MSW, LCSW, has directed the Regional Training Academy Coordination Project at California Social Work Education Center (CalSWEC) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Social Welfare since 2001. In this capacity he has provided leadership on major statewide training initiatives related to the Federal Child and Family Services Review, California’s Child and Family Services Reviews (AB 636), and the California’s ongoing Child Welfare Improvement Activities. As co-chair of the Statewide Training and Education Committee, he has led the development of statewide curricula and standards for training in California.
Other practice and training interests include: addressing disproportional representation and disparities for children and families of color in the child welfare system; developing and implementing innovative models for training evaluation; and building, translating and disseminating evidence-based practices via the training system.
Mr. Johnson is a licensed clinical social worker, and maintains a private practice serving children and families involved in the child welfare system in San Francisco.
