Dr. Herschell is a Research Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her clinical and research activities focus on the implementation of evidence-based treatment for child physical abuse in community settings. As a Principal Investigator, Dr. Herschell is currently completing a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health to develop and test innovative methods to train community practitioners in an evidence-based treatment, Abuse-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT). She also serves as a co-Investigator on another federally-funded study to evaluate the effectiveness of AF-CBT. Clinically, Dr. Herschell recently has worked with the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to develop a behavioral health program within their Child Advocacy Center. Dr. Herschell’s publications focus on evidence-based treatments, child physical abuse, behavior disorders, and training community practitioners.
