Michael Gottschalk, MD, PhD, is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Vice-Chair of Pediatrics, Chief of the Division of Pediatrics and Director of the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in San Diego, California.
Dr. Gottschalk earned his undergraduate degree at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and his PhD and MD at the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. He completed his pediatric internship and residency at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. His fellowship in pediatric endocrinology was also conducted at UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Gottschalk is the author or coauthor of numerous journal articles that have been published in New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Pediatrics, Journal of Biological Chemistry and Diabetes Care to name a few. He has been involved with clinical research studies in the area of childhood type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, adolescent polycystic ovarian syndrome, growth hormone treatment, and the diagnosis of adrenal disorders.
