Patti Giggans, executive director at PEACE OVER VIOLENCE, formerly LACAAW, has been involved in the violence against women/children movement for over 30 years and is considered anational expert on sexual, domestic violence and youth violence prevention. Ms. Giggans received her master’s degree in non-profit administration from the University of San Francisco and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology frm the State University of New york at Buffalo.
Ms. Giggans is the co-Author of What parents Need to Know about Dating Violenc, 50 Ways To a Safer World, In Touch With Teens: a Teen Relationship Violence Prevention Curriculum, and Self-Defense; A Women's Guide to Safety & Empowerment.
Ms. Giggans has held numerous leadership and advisory positions in the sexual assault and domestic violence arena statewide and nationally. She served as President of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Statewide California Coalition for Battered Women. Patti was instrumental in the creation of the California partnership to End Domestic Violence. She founded the LA Sexual Assault Coordinating Council and initiated Denim Day, in LA, an annual rape prevention education campaign.
