M15 PRINCIPLES OF ADULT LEARNING AND EFFECTIVE TEACHING TECHNIQUES
Edward Epstein, M.D. received his medical degree from the University of California, at San Diego in 1985 and did his residency and chief residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He was in private pediatric practice from 1989 to 1993 and then joined the faculty at UCSD in 1993. He became a full-time member of the Children’s Specialists of San Diego Medical Group in 2006. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UCSD and is an active clinician educator for medical students and residents at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. He is completing his Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction. He received a federal grant in enhancing the teaching of primary care to pediatric residents, as awarded by the Health Research Services Administration in 2005. He now serves as medical director of inpatient pediatrics at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was named Pediatrician of the Year for 2007.
