Dr. Anna Edwards is the Program Director for the Center for Child Well-Treatment at the Marcus Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Ph.D. from the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Georgia and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She has held previous research positions through Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her clinical and research interests include prevention of and intervention for child maltreatment, the impact of maltreatment on children’s psychological adjustment, parental socialization of children’s emotional development in violent/nonviolent families, and behavioral and emotional responses to stress and trauma. She has published several articles and had made multiple presentations at professional conferences related to the prevention of child maltreatment and its negative effects on children. In her capacity as Program Director at the Marcus Institute, Dr. Edwards coordinates efforts with the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services to implement the SafeCare model parenting program in metro-Atlanta; develops training proposals; writes grants; trains professionals in the SafeCare parenting program; provides consultation regarding SafeCare implementation; supervises SafeCare home visitors; and conducts educational seminars and professional presentations on the SafeCare program and Center for Child Well-Treatment.
