Karel R. Amaranth, MA has been the executive director of the Butler Child Advocacy Center at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore since 2001. The Butler Center, which provides medical evaluations, forensic interviews and mental health services for more than 1,000 children a year, is the only hospital-based NCA fully accredited child advocacy center in the NY metro area. In her 30 years as a professional, she has also served as the executive director of not-for profit home care agencies, Women's Action Alliance, and Victims Assistance Services of Westchester County, New York, as well as being a consultant for hospice programs. She has presented both nationally and internationally on women's issues, victims rights and services, health care and child advocacy, in addition to serving on many committees and task forces including the World Health Organization Planning Group on Women's Health and the National Center for Child Death Review Expert Panel. Moving Mountains is a project of the Butler Center initiated by Karel to assure the safety and well-being of all children.
