Associate Professor, Research Scientist UCSD; CASRC, Rady Children's Hospital L1 IMPLEMENTATION OF EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES: A GUIDE FOR RESEARCHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS
Gregory Aarons, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego and a Research Scientist at the NIMH supported Child and Adolescent Services Research Center in San Diego. Dr. Aarons’ most current NIMH supported work (R01MH072961) examines organizational factors and provider characteristics that impact provider attitudes toward adoption of evidence-based practice and effective implementation of evidence-based practices in child-welfare and mental health sectors. He is an investigator on a multi-county California study that is implementing a parent-mediated intervention in usual care settings (R01MH074497; PI: Webster-Stratton).
Dr. Aarons is also an investigator on a study of use of computer technology in HIV screening and testing in primary care. His work in child-welfare includes the study of implementation of evidence-based practices in a statewide child-welfare system.
In the mental health sector he is examining the impact or research-practice partnership on evidence-based practice implementation (R34MH074805; PI: Shipp). Through independent NIMH support (R03MH070703) and his involvement with the Center for Research on Mental Health in Social Services (P30MH068579; PI: Proctor) he is examining and developing a measure of organizational readiness to implement evidence-based practice. Dr. Aarons also serves as a consultant on an NIH funded study of a statewide behavioral health system change in New Mexico.
