Abstract: 

This lecture will provide a whirlwind review of “hot topics” in medical toxicology as they pertain to child and adolescent safety.  Topics will include buprenorphine treatment regimens for chronic opioid abuse and the impact on child safety, dextromethorphan abuse in adolescents, online drug encyclopedias and emerging herbals for “legal highs”, the energy drink epidemic, and a brief discussion of children exposed to clandestine methamphetamine labs.
