Abstract:

This workshop will provide an overview of Motivational Interviewing, an interviewing style used to help motivate clients towards behavioral changes. It has been found to be particularly effective in the areas of substance use. Concepts, skills, and practice demonstrations will be covered, particularly relating them to clients who are involved with the child welfare system and may be dealing with substance use issues.
