Abstract:

CDC's Division of Violence Prevention (DVP), has recently named its strategic direction for the prevention of child maltreatment -- Safe, Stable, Nurturing Relationships for Children (SSNRs). This presentation will describe how future child maltreatment activities, based on the SSNR strategic direction will build on the past and present work of DVP. In addition, the rationale for choosing SSNRs as a strategic direction will be discussed, as well as how future research and programmatic activities funded by DVP will be influenced by this direction. Recently funded child maltreatment prevention projects that embody the SSNR concept will be highlighted as well as examples of how DVP’s partners have adopted the SSNR strategic direction and integrated it into their own planning efforts
