Description:

Acquainting the participant with principles of adult learning including the use of mission, vision, strategy, and outcome objectives in educational program planning and the implementation of effective feedback techniques.

Abstract:

Effective teaching encompasses many different components and nuances.  Instructors must adapt to the environment in which they are teaching and the level and sophistication of the students who are there to learn.  This overview will give a framework for developing a style of communication which maximizes the acquisition of skills, knowledge, and attitudes in the students who are being taught.  The concepts of electronic portfolios, reflective techniques, giving effective feedback, the development of learning objectives, and the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy will all be explored.  The overall goal is to stimulate participants to seek further formal education in developing the tools of effective teaching.
