Description: This talk will serve as an introduction to reading and appreciating the medical literature.
Abstract: This will be an introduction to reading the medical literature. We can be confronted with a lot of information in medical papers and sometimes it is difficult to know what is really important. We will spend some time discussing how to read the medical literature more efficiently and learn how to find the correct "Take Home Message". Time will not be spent on detailed statistical analyses, but we will look at understanding what is important in what we read. We will learn how to critically read papers and sift through terms like: Evidence-Based Medicine, Randomized Trial, Statistically Significant and Peer-Review.
