Description: Geared for the techno-novice, this talk will serve as an introduction to the use of the PC, internet and basic web based search tools.
Abstract: This talk will serve as an introduction to those who have a fear of the computer and the internet. We will go through some basic computer functions and spend most of the time discussing how to search for medical information using the internet. We will discuss the basics of how to broaden and narrow searches. We will also spend time on how to keep up to date with medical information using automated searches. We will end the talk with undersanding how to organize your computer as to not get overwelmed with information. Some basic computer skills will be needed (beyond "on" and "off"), but not much more. You will leave feeling that you will be able to actively search "the Web" and use it to your benefit.
