I5 TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY: CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF NEURONAL DEATH
Presenters: Stephen Boos Abstract Category: Medical Instruction Level: Advanced Presentation: Not Provided
Description: This session will review the cell and molecular pathways to neuronal necrosis and apoptosis, and relate them to central questions in the understanding of abusive head injury.
Abstract: The pathway from traumatic strain to neuronal dysfunction, to neural death and brain damage is a complicated one. Understanding these cellular and molecular pathways may help to understand issues in the occurrence, timing and recurrence of brain injuries. This session will discuss neural injury from the perspective of cell and molecular biology, and relate it to controversies in abusive head trauma.
