A review of ocular postmortem examination techniques and findings in abusive head injury.

Abstract:

Postmortem examination of the eye and orbital contents is an important technique for evaluating children who die suddenly and without explanation, especially when evaluating for possible abusive head injury. This workshop will first review recently published recomended autopsy techniques for removal and examination of the eyes and orbital contents. Findings which may be revealed and their significance will then be discussed.
