Abstract:

Expert witnesses play a large role in the prosecution and defense of child sexual and physical abuse cases. Who can be an expert, how they are qualified, the standard that their testimony must meet, what an expert can be allowed to testify about, what they can consider in arriving at their opinion, how they base their opinions on the existing literature, and whether they can testify as to the ultimate issue of fact in the case are all issues to be explored in this workshop.
