Description:

Failure to thrive is a presenting complaint for many conditions. The challenge is identify all contributing factors, particularly environmental ones.

Abstract:

Failure to thrive is used often as a diagnosis, but in reality the term represents a symptom whose etiologies are multiple. The clinician must adequately assess the child in terms of the birth and medical histories, past growth patterns and family and community resources, and physical findings. Management is geared at addressing all areas of deficit.
