Structure and phases of child forensic interviewing, including developmental, psychological and cultural considerations.

 

Abstract:

This workshop will provide an overview of the structure of a child forensic interview, and developmental, psychological and cultural considerations in interviewing.  Phases of the interview to be discussed include:  Preparation; Rapport Building (including Instructions to child and use of practice Narratives); Transition; Information Gathering; Closure.  Special emphasis will be placed on working with a multidisciplinary team and the importance of advanced training and feedback/supervision for child interviewers.
