A Trauma Assessment Pathway Model Using the most current information available on best practices in assessment and treatment, the Chadwick Center for Children & Families (with support from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network) has developed an assessment framework for understanding traumatized children and making informed clinical decisions with these children. The model is called Assessment-Based Treatment for Traumatized Children: A Trauma Assessment Pathway (TAP) model. It incorporates a multifaceted assessment process to enable clinicians to gain an in-depth understanding of the child, their developmental level, their traumatic experience, and the family, community and cultural system in which the child lives. This information is used to effectively triage and treat the child and family and to assist the clinician in making decisions throughout the treatment process.
For more information on this model, please contact Lisa Conradi, Psy.D. or Barbara E. Ryan, L.C.S.W. Citation:
The Child Welfare Trauma Referral Tool is designed to help child welfare workers and others working in the field of child trauma to make more trauma-informed decisions about the need for referral to trauma-specific and general mental health services
